A PGDM is more than a set of subjects. It is a two-year journey that moves from fundamentals to specialization and then to real-world application. Here is how a typical program is structured, and what MABS offers at each step.
How a PGDM is structured
Most two-year PGDM program follow this pathway:
- Foundation year: core management courses that build your base.
- Summer internship: a short placement with an organization after the first year.
- Specialization year: electives in your chosen area, along with advanced and cross-functional courses.
- Capstone work: a research or project submission that applies what you have learned.
Core courses that everyone studies
Typical foundation subjects include financial accounting, managerial economics, marketing management, organizational behavior, human resource management, operations management, business statistics and analytics, corporate finance, business communication, business law and ethics, and strategic management. These courses ensure that, regardless of specialization, every graduate can speak the language of every function.
Specialization areas
Finance: corporate finance, investment analysis and portfolio management, financial modelling, financial markets and institutions, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and FinTech. Careers include financial analysis, banking, consulting, advisory and risk roles.
Marketing: consumer behavior, brand management, sales and distribution, digital marketing, marketing analytics, retail management and product management. Careers include brand, digital, sales and market research roles.
Human Resource Management: talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits, learning and development, labor laws and HR analytics. Careers include HR business partnering, recruitment and organizational development.
Operations and Supply Chain Management: supply chain design, logistics, procurement, quality and process improvement, and operations analytics. Careers include supply chain, logistics and operations roles.
Business Analytics: data visualization, statistical modelling, machine learning basics, business intelligence and data-driven decision making. Careers include business analyst, data analyst and product analyst roles.
Internships and the final project
Internships give you a first view of corporate life, while the final project teaches you to investigate a business problem independently, analyze evidence and present recommendations. Together they are what recruiters often ask about first.
Global immersion
Business today crosses borders. Many leading programs therefore include an international component such as a study visit, workshops and company visits that build cross-cultural awareness.
